Being Late makes you look a bit crap.
- It sends the not so subtle signal to the person waiting for you that YOUR time is more important than theirs.
- It makes you look not only disorganised but also someone who can’t be relied on.
- It makes the flustered first 15 minutes when you do eventually get there all about you.
The rules about when to arrive are pretty simple according to Anna Musson, Founder of The Good Manners Company:
“The correct time to arrive for a business meeting would be 10 minutes earlier than the agreed time and for a dinner party, 10 minutes after the specified time.”
And for those who think being apologetically flustered is a good look all she has to say is: ‘It’s not endearing, it’s not cute, it’s a flaw.’
This Be Better post is brought to you by someone who is sending this Blog post out 24 hours late and feels suitably chastised.
